Reach for the stars!

December 2023

December has been our busiest month so far and how much fun we have had!

We learnt all about people who work through the night. We had some special visitors come in to school. They told us all about how they became police officers, showed us the equipment they carry and then even let us sit in their special police van. The sirens were very loud and we absolutely loved the flashing lights. Many of us decided that we wanted to be police officers when we were older.

As the weather changed, we started to learn all about winter. It got very cold and the water in our learning garden froze. We explored the properties of ice and even used the ice to do some ice painting.

We then got busy preparing for Christmas. We made an amazing sleigh for Santa, wrote letters to Santa- and to our amazement, he wrote back to us!

We celebrated some special achievements. Some children managed to get halfway through the reading challenge, and they found a special surprise in their reading books.

We spent a lot of time practising our nativity songs so that we could perform our nativity alongside year 1. It was quite daunting performing in front of such a large crowd, but we made everyone proud by singing beautifully.

After all of our hard work this term, we had a special end of term treat. JJ the magician made us all laugh with his hilarious antics and amazed us with his superb magic tricks and balloon modelling. What a fabulous way to end our first ever term at school.
