Reach for the stars!

April 2024

Following on from our trip to the zoo, we returned to school after the Easter break to find ten chick eggs in an incubator. It was difficult to contain our excitement as we watched carefully for any signs of hatching. We had to be very quiet and very careful when we were near the incubator. We learnt all about chick embryos and how the chick develops inside the egg over the course of three weeks. We were fortunate to be able to watch the chicks hatching. It looked like very hard-work! Once they had hatched, we became the proud parents of eight delightful baby chicks. We named them, fed and watered them and played with them every day for two weeks. Sadly, we then had to say goodbye as the chicks were getting far too big for the brooder box, but we were happy that they would be rehoused on a big open farm.
