Sport at Braybrook
At Braybrook Primary School, we offer a broad and balanced PE and sports curriculum, which is fully inclusive and promotes both participation and competition. Key skills, such as spatial awareness, strength, endurance and fine motor skills, underpin the sports and activities that the children develop through each PE session. Teamwork, communication and leadership are also skills that are promoted and developed through all PE sessions, which can then be applied within other areas of the curriculum.
In addition to our class teachers, we have Sports Coaches who deliver PE sessions and run afterschool sports clubs. We also draw on the expertise of outside agencies to run clubs and sessions, such as Street Dance, rowing and fencing, to ensure that our children have access to new and exciting sporting opportunities.
Swimming is an important part of the PE curriculum. This year, this provision has benefitted the children in Yrs 4 and 5, and will be further built upon for these children next year. One of our TAs is a qualified level 2 swimming instructor, who leads the sessions alongside the class teacher.
We are also lucky at Braybrook to be apart of the Orton Sports Cluster, which gives us the opportunity to represent our school at interschool tournaments and festivals. This year that has involved children from years 2-6.
